"The Town Goes to the Dogs & Cats", by Mr. Kenneth Jones from Harford Community College:
"I was impressed with the effort from the artists who submitted mannequins for The Town Goes to the Dogs & Cats show. As each artist must start essentially with the same material (the mannequin and an idea) - what interests me is the multitude of approaches to animating, caricaturizing or reviving themes and styles of painting and decoration. Some artists focused on ornament, patterning the skin of the wooden creatures, while others used the mannequin like an actor on a stage and create a theatre for their performance. I was struck by the use and implementation of the frame in and around the figures as well as the use of found objects: feathers and jewels in one piece turn the cat into an exotic mini sphinx. Overall, the attention and time artists spent with the figures is a testament to the love and affection we have for our feline and canine friends, who, for the short time they are here, show us the true spirit of life".

"No artist is an island--the Art Rooms in Havre de Grace is a resource of useful, quality materials and moreover, a connection to other artists, opportunities and community".
